About SPARK Programme
The SPARK Programme is Cantonment Primary School’s signature Applied Learning Programme. Engineered to ignite a deep sense of purpose and drive, it empowers students to see the vital importance of adaptive thinking in an ever-changing world. Through a dynamic mix of integrated in-curriculum lessons, spotlight activities and special interest groups, students apply their knowledge and adaptive thinking to authentic, inter-disciplinary, real-world topics that relate to the Singapore context. This inspires them to look beyond textbooks, stretch their imaginations, and confidently step into their future as future-ready Adaptive Thinkers.

Tier 1 – ‘Adaptive Thinking’ Integrated Curriculum – Think, Adapt, Apply
At every level, carefully curated, integrated lessons connect classroom learning with authentic, real-world topics, prompting students to actively apply their knowledge and adaptive thinking. These topics are anchored across four key domains:
Creative Expression
Students apply adaptive thinking to see and create things differently. They learn to appreciate new ways of using existing or traditional materials, viewing them through a fresh lens by authoring or designing something unique and original. By embracing the creative process, they learn to improvise around limitations, push their creative boundaries, and confidently rise above the ordinary.

Environment & Sustainability
Students apply adaptive thinking to promote a harmonious coexistence between humans and the natural environment. They learn to appreciate the complexities of nature, biodiversity, and critical ecosystems through hands-on activities such as urban farming and recycling, while exploring issues like climate change, pollution, and waste reduction. This allows them to experience firsthand how a proactive, adaptive mindset ensures a sustainable future.

Singapore & Contemporary Issues
Students apply adaptive thinking to understand Singapore’s heritage and how we as a society constantly evolve and adjust. They learn to appreciate the nation's foresight in urban planning and resource resilience through discussions, debates and thought experiments on contemporary issues, while exploring how we adaptively navigate emerging global and societal challenges. By examining different viewpoints and reconciling opposing arguments, students gain a deeper awareness of what it means to be an active contributor to the nation.

Designers, Makers, Coders & Numbers
Students apply adaptive thinking to shift from rigid rules and fixed routines toward mental flexibility. Through observation, hands-on prototyping and data analysis, they learn to appreciate diverse problem-solving methodologies, viewing constraints as unique opportunities to innovate. By embracing a process of repeated trial and error, students actively adapt their designs and solutions until they succeed.

Tier 2 – Special Interest Groups and Spotlight Activities
Catering to students with deeper interests, special interest groups like the Creative Design Club, Science Club, InfoComm Club, and Debate Group offer opportunities to apply adaptive thinking. This is further enriched by spotlight events including the STEM Challenge, Reading Week, Learning Journeys, and recess activities where students get extended opportunities to demonstrate adaptive thinking in diverse situations.
