PAVE (Learning for Life Programme)

Programme Objectives

At Cantonment Primary School, the Performing Arts for Values and Excellence (PAVE) Learning for Life Programme (LLP) centres on Music and Performing Arts as a vehicle for holistic student development. Through this programme, we aim to:

• develop strong school values and 21st century competencies in all students,

• develop a stronger understanding of our Singapore heritage and enhance the sense of belonging to Singapore,

• develop students’ strengths, interests and passions to experience greater joy of learning.

Guided by the three processes of Appreciating, Creating and Performing in the Arts, students build a strong musical foundation as they explore the elements, concepts knowledge that underpin music and the performing arts. Through intentional and curated learning experiences, they develop a sense of belonging to their school community and to Singapore, and cultivate the will to act — taking ownership of their learning and translating it into values for excellence. In doing so, they grow not only as artists, but values-driven, future-ready learners who are active contributors to the world around them.

Appreciate

Learning to be a thoughtful and engaged audience is the first step in every student's arts journey. Through school-wide arts-related assembly programmes, learning journeys and festive celebrations, students are introduced to a wide range of performing arts experiences. They learn to practise proper audience etiquette and embody the school values as they watch and respond to live performances.

Create

In Create, Students move from observers to be active participants. Through the music curriculum and Visual and Performing Arts CCAs, they develop their musical abilities and performing arts skills, while cultivating self-directedness as they take initiative in their own learning journey. Students also practise adaptive thinking by drawing connections between what they have learnt and applying it in new contexts. This spirit of exploration and experimentation encourages students to take creative risks and grow in confidence.

Perform

Performance is where learning comes to life. Through both internal school events and external platforms, students share their talents with the wider community, developing their musical expression and growing into confident, active contributors beyond the classroom.
